Job Purpose & Scope: Conduct sedimentological, facie`s, diagenesis and rock typing studies of potential reservoirs within assigned team. Sharing the senior review geologist for further exploration, appraisal and development studies. Works closely with other senior members of the assigned team to promote teamwork and integrate results of sedimentological, facies, diagenesis and reservoir rock type studies with other related team activities. This includes: ·Ensuring timely deliverable of sedimentological studies to be implemented in the Full Field Development Plans for the EUFR 1.8 MMbd building blocks as required. ·Ensuring timely coordination with other divisions on all sedimentological requirements for the clients other developed and undeveloped reservoirs as required. ·Monitors the progress of approved programs, resolves, and trouble shoots operational and technical problems as they arise. ·Ensuring the execution of an optimum data gathering program to reduce uncertainties on the undeveloped portfolio being assessed. ·Interfaces with shareholders representatives, as necessary, to optimize programs. ·Provides training and knowledge transfer to young U.A.E. nationals and others in the team. Main Duties/Accountabilities: a) Prepare and QC all data of the cores, logs, rock thin sections, rock measurements for the different studied reservoirs. b) Establish and define core and thin sections characteristics (texture, Facies, diagenesis, porosity types, and sequences surfaces). c) Describe and document core samples using the standard sheet. d) Describe and document rock thin sections, identifying texture, grain types, porosity types and fossils. e) Establish the lithofacies and lithofacies associations in the different reservoirs. f) Coordinates with the sequence stratigraphy specialist to define the stratigraphic surfaces and boundaries using cores and logs. g) Establish the environmental section for the studied reservoirs. h) Establish reservoir rock types scheme for the studied reservoirs i) Defined samples for MICP, m, n and SCAL measurements. j) Help in defining reservoir tops and bottoms, as well as markers. k) Suggest the coring program for the wells. l) Conduct sedimentological, facies, diagenesis and reservoir rock type`s studies for the different reserervoirs in a field or area. m) Participates in various meetings with shareholders to present geological, sedimentological and reservoir rock type`s studies. n) Participates in the preparation of the team`s contribution to the Company`s "5 Year" Business Plan, and the department`s budget. o) Monitors expenditure and prepares justifications for deviations from budget. p) Maintain and keep updated records of UFR`s sedimentological data. q) Discusses technical and manpower requirements to cover sedimentological and reservoir rock type`s workload with Team coordinator and presents appropriate justifications on organization and allocation of work. r) Participates in the ongoing training and development of UAE national employees in assigned team. Includes participating in the assessment of training and development needs, preparation of structured development programs, monitoring progress and counseling employees as required. s) Knows the Company health, safety and environment policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility. Ensures that work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Conducts effective accident investigation and follow up. Implements specific safety management system program activities assigned to him. t) Keeps abreast of related development within the oil production industry. Includes i.Attending and representing the client in conferences, seminars and society meetings to ii.Identify new developments in the industry of interest of the Company. Prepares iii.Reports/papers on such functions and circulates to supervisor and team members. u) Carries out other similar or related duties such as participating in the preparation and presentation of various reports and recommendations for technical meetings with shareholders` representatives supervising the development and maintenance of sedimentological and reservoir rock typing data base and conducting special studies to investigate specific problems by introducing new techniques. III.Job Context (Include `Physical Requirement` and `Work Environment`): Physical Requirements:Occasional field trips to attend unusual operations. More than 50% of the working time may be spent in core warehouse visits which involve driving and walking. The balance of the working time involves minimal physical exertion. Work Environment: Normally air-conditioned office, with occasional trips to field locations. IV.Communications and Working Relationships / Work Contacts Frequent contacts with other Subsurface New and Existing Development employees at his own or slightly higher level to advice on related activities, to integrate geological, sedimentological and reservoir rock type`s data analysis results with work of other teams/team members. Frequent contacts with shareholders` representatives to discuss requirements and obtain approval on work programs. Devises own work methods according to established policies, work programs, and specialized professional standards. Work accomplishments are subject to general review by assigned Coordinator and Team Leader. Accountability Responsible for independent study and production of accurate data for appraisal and field development. Accountable for providing sedimentology and rock typing expertise to assigned Team aiming at discovery/development of new reserves as the primary objectives V.Supervisory Responsibility Provides work direction to less experienced geologists and contractors. Knowledge, Skills and Experience/ (Key Competencies) a) Minimum Master Degree in Geology. b) Minimum 15 years varied experience in sedimentology, preferably in appraisal and development environment, including a minimum of 8 years working with carbonate reservoirs. Extensive understanding and experience in both Sequence Stratigraphic concepts and application is required. c) Very good knowledge of English and excellent communication skills
