Our client is an international practice of Chartered Accountants with its head office in the United Kingdom. They specialise in personal, corporate taxation and financial advice to international groups and private individuals. They were established over 80 years ago and ranks amongst the top thirty practices in the UK.

 

They have two offices in the UK, London and Leatherhead, Surrey. A total of 16 Partners and 200 personnel are employed in the two offices.

 

In addition to the UK offices, they have ten overseas offices employing in excess of 400 staff which have developed from the substantial amount of international work we are involved in.

 

 

THE DEPARTMENT:

The Business Services Group (a division of Corporate Services) provides a comprehensive range of accounting and financial services to clients. These services include management and financial reporting and extend to a full outsourcing of the accountancy function for a number of clients.

 

 

POSITION:

Our client have a position for a Payroll Specialist to work in the Business Services Group. The role is the operation of the department`s payroll bureau involving weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and annual payrolls for a diverse range of clients. Many of our clients have fully outsourced their payroll operations to us and the role involves all aspects of providing them with a first-class service. The day to day work will involve a wide range of payroll skills including:

 

  • Assisting with the on boarding of new payroll clients

  • Preparing client payrolls on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis

  • Incorporating payroll changes that have been notified by agreed cut-off dates

  • Calculation of SSP, SMP, etc where applicable

  • Providing management information and reports

  • Providing security payslips for each employee

  • Utilising the BACS system for payment of net salaries and PAYE/NIC

  • Advising clients of the necessary payments to be made to employees and HM Revenue & Customs

  • Completing all RTI submissions to HM Revenue & Customs

  • Extensive communication with clients, mainly by telephone and email

  • Correspondence with HM Revenue & Customs on all matters affecting the payroll

  • Supporting fellow team members with the delivery of their payrolls, when required

  • Assisting clients with payroll support queries

  • Any other ad hoc project work or related tasks as required

 

Over time there will be an opportunity to develop broader skills and to become involved with the delivery of HR solutions to clients (such as drafting employment documentation, advising on HR matters such as terminations, redundancies, maternity, etc)

 

 

Personal Specification:

  • Experience in payroll preparation, preferably within a bureau environment

  • Experience of dealing with PAYE issues and HM Revenue & Customs correspondence

  • Clear written and verbal communication

  • Team player

  • Ability to work under pressure and in a deadline driven environment

  • Excellent IT skills and receptive to technology changes

  • Experience of STAR payroll system useful, but not necessary

The position is based at our Leatherhead offices which are modern and open plan.

 

The working day is 9.00 am to 5.30 pm or 8.30 am to 5.00 pm with one hour for lunch.
