Our client a small family owned Chartered Accountancy practice with 100 client payroll bureau, are looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Clerk to assist in processing weekly/monthly payrolls.


Main purposes of job:

  • Processing end to end payrolls

  • Dealing with client, HMRC, pension and statutory enquiries/notices

  • CIS submissions


Key tasks

  • Processing client payrolls to provide gross to net reports, payslips, pension information and communications dealing with all payroll and employment enquiries.

  • Send RTI submissions for PAYE and CIS and communicating with The Pensions Regulator on behalf of client.

  • Review and action HMRC notices, liaising with client where necessary.

  • To provide accurate payroll information to clients and provide a comprehensive payroll service for clients.

  • To adhere to statutory deadlines.

  • To fulfil duties in reporting and responding to government agencies

  • Knowledge of payroll legislation

  • Employment Law

  • CIS



Previous experience

  • Processing of payrolls (ideally practice experience with client payrolls)

  • Dealing with HMRC queries


Experience Required

  • Experience of processing end to end (client) payrolls

  • Experience of IRIS payroll is essential and Sage an advantage.

  • Processing starters and leavers

  • Processing statutory payments

  • Previous use of payroll software

  • RTI submissions

  • Working to deadlines

  • Manual payroll calculations

  • Managing pension contributions

  • Substantial experience of administrative work

  • Providing client advice

  • Effective communication

  • CIS submissions
